In 2017, Play Africa brought its creative placemaking experience to the courtyards at Constitution Hill, as well as the surrounding streets and parks, to offer developmentally-appropriate programmes and exhibits that celebrate every child’s right to play and learn through hands-on, experiential learning. Our partnership is based on our shared commitment to offer South African children and families new learning and early childhood development experiences that foster a sense of teamwork, collaboration and mutual respect.

Young visitors age 10 and under and their caregivers can visit Play Africa at Constitution Hill, which supports Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Foundation Phase learning by offering play-based, informal, experiential learning enrichment to children and families. Play Africa bridges divides and fosters inclusion as children play and learn together. Through this exciting collaboration, Play Africa at Constitution Hill promotes children’s rights and everyone’s right to play, discover, and imagine.

Play Africa is a pioneering “children's museum” in South Africa. As a cultural institution, its exhibits and programmes are designed to stimulate imagination, experimentation, innovation and problem-solving in children, as well as their families and educators. Play Africa Group is a member of the Association of Children’s Museums. It is a registered South African non-profit company, and a registered public benefit organisation.
