Constitution Hill will host its annual We, the People Walk on Sunday, 26 March 2017 in Johannesburg.

The title of the We, the People Walk is taken from the preamble to the South African Constitution. This year’s walk commemorates the coming of age of the Constitution, which was signed into law 21 years ago on 10 December 1996. Through this symbolic walk, Constitution Hill and its partners seek to affirm constitutionalism and to recognise the role of those who participated in the struggle for the attainment of South Africa’s constitutional democracy.

We encourage you to walk for one of your 27 fundamental human rights as enshrined by the Constitution.

While the We, The People Walk takes place, children under the age of 12 will have the opportunity to participate in their own walk: the We, the Children Walk. This walk is designed to teach children about the Bill of Rights through activities such as interacting with mascots, musical games, chalking the legacy and other child-friendly activities.

The We, the People Walk is a 5km or 8km walk, and We, the Children is a 1km walk.

After the walk there will be various activities for both young and old alike. These will include live performances by musicians, poets and dancers, as well as face-painting, a jumping castle and educational programmes to teach children about their rights and responsibilities.

This will be a fun-filled day for the entire family.

Please note that teams are welcome to enter at a minimum of 10 people per team.

Online purchases for the walk will receive a 15% discount.
