Young and old, large and small, dressed mostly in orange and white T-shirts, hundreds of South Africans from all walks of life gathered to take part in the We The People Walk from Constitution Hill on Sunday, in celebration of the importance of human rights.
The walk (which has a 5km route and an 8km route), through the city of Johannesburg, formed part of this year's Human Rights Festival at Constitution Hill, once a place of oppression and imprisonment and now a symbol of South Africa's freedom and democracy. The festival coincided with South Africa celebrating 25 years of democracy as well as the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Below, see a selection of pictures from the walk, which was joyous and uplifting to be a part of.
