Constitution Hill has won a 2017 South African Museums Association Speaker and Publications award for its website.

In honour of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu’s role as one of the architects of our constitutional democracy, a 9m-high monument called the Arch for Arch – made up of 14 strands representing each chapter of the Constitution and each line of the Constitution’s Preamble – was unveiled in Cape Town on Tutu’s 86^th birthday, on 7 October 2017.

On Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu’s 86^th birthday – 7 October – a slim-limbed wooden arch commemorating South Africa’s Constitution will be officially unveiled in his honour in Cape Town.

The finals of this year’s Constitution Hill Debating League competition should be a close-run thing, says organiser Lerato Sefume.

The competition was established to champion constitutional education, by exposing learners to the Constitution of South Africa and the crucial role of the Constitutional Court. The league also develops school learners and equips them with research and public-speaking skills.
