Museums offer a unique access, particularly to international tourists and can be a great source for original products. Most leading international museums, are selling product that are custom-made to their location. Museum gift stores can contribute up to as much as a quarter of museum revenue, but their contributions aren’t only economic as they also help to educate visitors.

They have the potential to really enhance the museum experience by providing the opportunity for visitors to take something tangible away with them and give museums a way to build their brand and develop long term relationships with their visitors.

Whether the store is commissioning its own products, working with brands, or buying them from the trade, their pieces must connect directly or thematically to the museum experience and collection. A visit to a museum can last a few hours, but the memories that come with novel gift relating to the experience can last a lifetime and hopefully the memories will make visitors want to come back.

We are so proud of the group of twenty creatives who have been busy developing unique prototypes for the Movement Store. They were selected after they responded to an open call where designers, visual artists, makers and inventors were challenged to come up with unique ideas for products that talk to three catergories that represent the work being done by Constitution Hill.
